Since 2022, the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) have been implementing, guiding businesses on the procedures for updating personal/ online Identification numbers in employee records. This implementation follows Decision No. 06/QĐ-TTg dated 6 January 2022, issued by the Prime Minister to digitalize the national citizen database and Official Letter No. 1147/BHXH-TST dated 4 May 2022, from Vietnam Social Security (VSS) regarding the requirement to provide such information when submitting Social and Health insurances’ applications. However, as of 31 January 2025, 152,172 participants in Ho Chi Minh City have yet to complete this update, causing delays in processing social insurance-related applications.
To prevent disruptions in social insurance benefits for your employees and ensure compliance with regulations, Companies should take the following actions:
1. Required Actions for Companies:
- Review list of employees currently participating in Social and Health Insurances.
- Submit electronic form 608 (attached with scanned copies of employees’ ID cards or notifications of Online Personal Identification Number) to the relevant Social Security office.
- Deadline: 31 March 2025.
2. Consequences of Non-Compliance After 31 March 2025:
- The Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance will reject applications for enrollment, termination, and adjustments for employees.
- Health Insurance cards will be temporarily deactivated, affecting employees’ access to healthcare benefits.
- Confirmation of insurance contribution periods and issuance of social insurance book extracts will be suspended.
- Any loss of employee benefits due to failure to update will be the full responsibility of employers/participants.
To avoid any negative impact on your employees’ benefits, KTC strongly encourage you to complete this update as soon as possible.
